A pervert tried to grope a woman in a lift - so she struck back.

The incident was captured on a CCTV camera in an unknown city in China and the footage posted on social media site Weibo.

At first the he lurks behind the woman, before leaning over her shoulder as she looks at her phone.

She moves to the other side of the lift, but the man once again creeps up to her and then appears to try and grope her breast.

Suddenly, the woman gives him an almighty slap, sending him sprawling into the corner of the lift.

As he staggers to his feet she kicks him solidly in the privates - and then when he doubles up knees him in the forehead.

The lift then comes to halt and the woman leaves with her head held high.

Several people are skeptical of whether the video is real, given how tightly choreographed the moves appear to be.

Well, they're probably right. A report for the sports section on Chinese portal, Tencent, has identified the woman as Beijing TV host and actress Du Qiao, who also happens to be dating Chinese pro muay thai fighter, Xu Yan.

Qiao confirmed to Tencent on Thursday that she was the woman in the video, but insisted it wasn't staged. "I was just minding my own business, but he forced a reaction from me," she said.

Publicity stunt or otherwise, it's still pretty entertaining to watch.
