Norwegian Anti-Islam Activist Driven Off Road After Koran Burning

A car belonging to Stop the Islamization of Norway (Sian) was pushed off the road on the E6 in Oslo on Saturday afternoon. Among those sitting in the car was Sian leader Lars Thorsen.

In a press release, the police state that they have arrested and charged a person with grievous bodily harm.

The car ended up on the roof after the collision. Four people were taken to the emergency room, and one person was sent to Ullevål hospital. No one is seriously injured.

The video speaks for itself. It is someone who drives another car and exposes it to a significant damage potential, says police task leader Tore Barstad.

The police write in the press release that there is reason to believe that the car was hit on purpose.

Will there be any extra preparedness considering that several similar incidents may occur?

There is no doubt that Lars Thorsen's actions have provoked many, and we are aware of that. We were not aware that he was going around today, says Barstad.

There are injuries, but it is too early to say anything about the extent, Thorsen says.

There were five people in the car, he says.

It is not pleasant to spin around by car. But we will continue to provoke, says Thorsen, who together with other Sian members has driven around Oslo today to burn Korans.

Sian is a small extremist group that describes itself as anti-Islamic. They are known for arranging provocative Koran burnings around the country.

A video shows that Lars Thorsen and other Sian demonstrators set fire to a Koran at Mortensrud in Oslo a few minutes before the collision.

Several spectators who came to the place tried to stop Sian. They eventually got the fire out.

The video shows a gray car driving from the scene. This is the car that later drives into Sian's car on the highway.

The driver of this car is now charged with grievous bodily harm.
