A mother in Columbus County pleaded guilty Thursday in court for encouraging her underage daughter to fight.

Police say Aneshia Cartret witnessed a fight between her daughter and another girl earlier this year and did not try to break it up.

The fight was caught on video and circulated around the area.

Cartret lost her job at a school in Columbus County because of the video.

Thursday, she pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, so her public disturbance charge was dropped.

Cartret was sentenced to 48-hours of community service, plus she was ordered to take anger management counseling and undergo a mental health assessment.

The tape in question shows Cartret's daughter fighting with another girl at a parking lot in Whiteville in February.

More than 30 people stood around watching the fight and egging on the girls.

Cartret admitted to being a bystander.

She was arrested and charged with contributing to delinquency of a juvenile.

The police report says Cartret's daughter was fighting with the another girl in early Feb. in the Whiteville Plaza parking lot about something posted on Facebook.

Investigators say more than 30 people were there watching the fight and egging the girls on.
