On the night of Saturday, August 7, 2023, a significant altercation took place on the Montgomery, Alabama riverfront. The incident began when a Black riverboat worker objected to a pontoon boat that was obstructing a larger riverboat from docking. The worker was then attacked by a group of white individuals.

The incident, which was captured in several videos and shared on social media, seemed to unfold largely along racial lines. The footage showed a group of Black individuals rushing to the aid of the riverboat worker, turning the tables on the white assailants.

The Montgomery Police Department confirmed they responded to reports of a disturbance on the 200 block of Coosa Street in the Montgomery riverfront park area. Upon arrival, they found a large group of individuals engaged in a physical altercation. Several individuals were detained, and charges are pending.

The situation escalated when a group of about six Black men from the riverboat confronted the white group. They were cheered on by bystanders as they defended themselves against three white men and two women. At least two of the women ended up in the river, and a third was struck over the head with a folding chair, as shown in the video footage.

The brawl subsided with the arrival of the police, only to briefly reignite before the police began detaining participants from both sides. Local NBC station WSFA of Montgomery reported that four arrest warrants have been issued in connection with the altercation, and more may follow after the review of additional video.

The pontoon should have moved. This is very common, slip space is rented/owned by certain boats, and is generally fine to use if the leaseholder is not there, but you obviously can't refuse to move once they are. The dock worker was just doing his job, there was no reason to attack him, even more so with three people on him. I suspect alcohol will be a major contributing factor here.

I think we can solve this by having white people living around other white people and black people living around other black people. Muslims should also only live around other muslims. Black people should all be shipped back to Africa. Europe can take the whites. Lets give America back to the native americans.
