London Tube passengers tackled a half-naked man who exposed his lower half in front of children in a busy carriage.

Footage posted online shows a man dropping his trousers on a Hammersmith and City line train at around 3.30pm on Thursday. When challenged by passengers on the eastbound train at Upton Park station, the man began shouting, repeatedly telling them to "fuck off".

He was told: “What do you mean, 'fuck off'? You need to get off the fucking train, mate. There are fucking kids about.” The man continued to shout and wave his belt as more commuters stepped in and detained the man.

A fight appeared to break out as the group punched and kicked him to the floor of the carriage. He could then be seen with his hands forced behind his back and was eventually thrown off the train by a group of men. A photograph showed him being pinned to the ground on the platform. Several passengers then waited with him on the platform at East Ham station for more help to arrive.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to reports of a man exposing himself on the District Line at East Ham Underground station.

“The man had been assaulted by a number of other passengers and was initially arrested by an off duty officer, before being detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital, where he remains. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.”

They'll able to claim self defence, he was being verbally threatening, then lashed out with his belt, that could blind you. They used proportional force
