Women who stay with batterers after many beatings (as I'm sure the case is here) have stopped being tragic to me and have become a kind of divine black comedy, like the scene in Takashi Miike's Visitor Q (2001) where the 8 year son whips his mother across their apartment for buying him the wrong toothbrush that wasn't the right softness.
