Let me also say that the “victor” here was likely *very* scared about the guy on the ground. If that guy died, then he could be put to death. This is one area that I really dislike about China.

I remember when I was in college in China, we discussed a case where a man #1 was attacked by another man #2 he had an issue. Man #2 grabbed a long knife and went to man #1’s job to attack him while he was working. Well, it didn’t go as he planned and man #1 ended killing man #2 in self defense.

Guess what, man #1 was arrested and was facing the death penalty when his mother traveled across the country to petition for her son. He “lucked out” since the dead man’s mother didn’t want to seek the death penalty, so he was sentenced to life in prison. I’ll never forget the video of the mother knocking her head on the ground hard in respect to man #2’s mother. And my teacher was saying that man #1 was lucky and he actually should have been put to death.

I was so disgusted that the overwhelming sentiment of the general public was to put a man to death for defending himself. I generally like, but some areas are really backwards in my view.
