The suspect in a brutal hammer attack recorded on video is in Wayne County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

The disturbing video shows a parking lot confrontation that quickly escalates into a savage attack.

Detroit Police arrested Keith Randolph Lewis for bludgeoning the man seen in the video.

Lewis is charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with a deadly weapon and assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

The attack happened at Grandy's Coney Island on Outer Drive and Sherwood.

Rosa Johnson was a customer there and says she won't be back after seeing the video.

"That isn't right, that's what scares me," she says. "There are guys in there rapping and asking for our food, and for a few dollars for bites of food.

Sometimes you come out and you see drug transactions and everything going on, and it made me uncomfortable. My kids, I'm not trying to raise them around that type of environment."

After seeing the mug shot of Lewis, Johnson says he looked familiar as a regular at the restaurant.

"I recognize him only as a person [who would] be up here bumming cigarettes and rapping inside the place without buying anything," she says. "People need to learn to look out for one another."

Police are not saying what led to the attack, but the attacker said something about the victim carjacking him.

It's unclear who the victim is at this time. He was taken to Henry Ford Hospital in temporary serious condition.

Dude, where the hell do you think homie gonna get ten grand and a bondsman to write that ticket? Especially if he gotta bum cigarettes and can't afford to buy a meal? Nah, I'd say he's in lockup until trial.
