In the early hours of Sunday, a woman, who has not yet been identified, was brutally attacked in Brazil.

The victim tried to escape from a man, also unidentified, who chased her through the streets and repeatedly hit her in the head with a helmet until she starts bleeding.

Witnesses passing by noticed the woman's injury and rushed to her aid, calling for help.

She was treated for serious head injuries and taken for medical treatment.
