True story: I used to be away from home for months (and I mean 8-14 months) at a time working. My neighbors on either side of my house have known me for most of my life. I live 50 yards from the house I grew up in. Built a nice two story house next door to my grandmother. Anyway, my neighbors knowing what I did for a living was cool but none of the other people in the neighborhood actually knew. They were just told I worked in construction on a lot of foreign jobs. Well, the neighbor across the street died and the owners of the house started renting it out.
For month's I would get calls/texts/messages from my wife telling me what the idiots across the street were doing. Police was called (many of my friends are police) and he made a stop over there to warn them about parking in yard and driveway and throwing beer cans in my yard. They kind of scoffed at him because they said they hadn't been doing that. The cop also told them that they really didn't know who they were messing with and just because I wasn't there doesn't mean I won't be back.
Fast forward a few months, I get home, pull in the driveway and look in the rear view mirror. There are five or six of them on the front porch trying to look as tough as they could and actually cranked the stereo up even louder than it was. I have all my "gear" in the truck seat next to me and hit the garage opener. The garage opens and there is my 458 Italia sitting there so they started looking like "DAYUM"! Still tough but I could see they were relaxing some.
Funniest part is that I reach over and grab my vest and pull it on over my shirt and grab my MK18 and step out and rack the bolt back to make sure it's clear and........the scrambled like roaches when the light comes in. They were all elbows and assholes picking up beer cans, cutting the stereo off, and moving cars. I never said a word to them. I just looked at one and nodded. I looked nextdoor and saw my Viet Nam vet neighbor I have known since I was five drinking a Bud light and just smiled and said "welcome home".
We NEVER had a problem again.
