Depends on how the judge sees it. If someone gets up in your face making threats, you're justified in defending yourself. The question becomes if you acted reasonably.
Punching someone looks bad, but in the whole pyramid of possible options it's generally safer than being choked out. Gotta remember that the bouncer has no taser, no baton, no cuffs and no gun.
