Elevator Argument Turns into Head Punching and Choking
India. Deepak C, 50 years old being a resident of the apartment complex and being the former treasurer of the apartment owners’ association and the aggressor Prahlad K, 44 years old, who is a businessman, a fellow resident of the complex and also a former board member of the same apartment owners’ association already had a bitter, long-running dispute over the management of society funds. Deepak had previously raised serious allegations of financial corruption, mismanagement and embezzlement against Prahlad K. during Prahlad's tenure on the board. On Wednesday, July 15, around 7:00 AM, both men happened to board the same lift in Tower 8 after dropping their children off at the school bus. Prahlad confronted Deepak regarding the ongoing corruption allegations, demanding he drop the issue. When Deepak refused, their argument instantly escalated from a stare down into a physical attack. Prahlad physically blocked the lift door so Deepak could not escape, then pressed the button to send the elevator to the top floor. For roughly three minutes while trapped inside the moving elevator, Prahlad repeatedly punched and kicked Deepak and tried to choke him out. When the lift doors finally opened on the 19th floor, Deepak managed to escape and fled to safety. He suffered facial injuries, severe bruising and required immediate medical attention. Deepak went to the police station to file a complaint. The police acted swiftly due to the undeniable video evidence. Prahlad K, was formally arrested by the Ghaziabad Police later that same day. A First Information Report has been registered against him under several severe sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, incl. section 115: Voluntarily causing hurt. Section 126: Wrongful restraint (for trapping him in the lift). Section 351: Criminal intimidation and assault. The police are currently looking into a highly suspicious detail. While the internal lift camera caught the assault, several primary corridor cameras outside the lifts were found turned off or malfunctioning at the exact time of the incident. Authorities are investigating if there was intentional tampering to cover up a pre-planned attack. Update: The current Apartment Owners' Association and local residents have expressed deep shock over the brutality, while the ongoing investigation has shifted heavily toward a digital glitch and potential system tampering found within the society's surveillance footage. The glitch is probably the date shifting a few years lol |
