The assault took place at The Great Corner Steak House, located on Adnan Menderes Street in the Armutalan neighborhood of Marmaris and following the violent outburst, local police arrived at the scene, detained the heavily intoxicated British tourist, and took him away in handcuffs.

The wife and children refused to file an official complaint against the man once they were at the police station and because the family declined to press charges and chose not to complain, the man was released from police custody.

The entire British family, incl. the husband, subsequently left the police station together and returned to their hotel to continue their family holiday.
