I'm guessing this isn't a traditional concussion knock out. Maybe something ruptured in his brain.

Nah. My guess is that when that first punch connected and he was knocked to his hands & knees he was seeing stars. Then when he tried to stand up, the extra blood rush caused him to see exploding stars

thats exactly what i think happened.

he tried to get up again and all went numb and black

somehow ... i miss that feeling. didnt had it in a long time, but getting knocked out is very special. everything is very .. fluffy
