Exactly. First thing you are taught in any disciple of self defense is put space between the threat and yourself even if that means turning and running. We just saw how acting macho played out. One guy is going to jail and the other, if he survives, will be spoon fed the rest of his life. Everyone's life is fucked.

What makes you think the puncher is going to jail? Not every system in the world is based on the Western style. That was just a simple right hook. Not the puncher's fault that the man who got in his face couldn't take a punch. Many countries will feel just like this and the puncher will be just fine.

The real lesson here is to always walk away because even though I feel the puncher will be fine in this case, it could be manslaughter at the very least, in many other places.

What makes me think the puncher is going to jail, you ask? Good question. I googled it to confirm my hunch. Who knows, maybe he'll get off with a fine but I would doubt it. There wasn't much for a defense lawyer to support a self-defense argument.

The puncher did not get approach the victim, the victim approached him. You get in someone's face/space, then you better expect to get hit. Anyone knows that and I feel any competent lawyer will get him off.

Granted, I don't know a lot about the legal system in India, but I know it's very corrupt and have my own personal stories from my time in India to back up my feelings here. Besides that though, it would be unfortunate if he was convicted and jailed. Imagine if that was common and enforced everywhere. Many more people would be like that video in China were the two men were constantly spitting on each other, but never ever actually threw punch or kick.
