if your opponent knows how to grapple the fight instantly becomes a lot more tiring, you are exerting a lot more energy than when standing just throwing punches or kicks

They actually had surprisingly decent cardio considering all the grappling that was going on. Isometric tension wears you out a lot faster, and that's what happens when you're grappling. Constant muscle contraction = Massive oxygen burning = exhaustion. You obviously haven't seen 2 smokers go at it lmao, 30 seconds in and they're gassed already.. The average person will gas in a fist fight in like 2-3 minutes or less without a break if they have no conditioning training or don't work out. |
