Bus Driver Suspended After Altercation with Knife Weilding Female Passenger

A Georgia bus driver was suspended after he restrained a knife-wielding passenger.

Police say Tanisha Twyne got into an argument with another passenger when driver Damian Haney came back to see what was going on.

Twyne producing a knife, which she then used to threaten Haney.

She reportedly lunged at the driver, and then the struggle ensued.

Haney and a security guard couldn't get the knife away from Twyne until police arrived with a taser.

The driver had to get stitches for his wounds, and that's when he was suspended.

Veolia Transportation, which also operates in Nassau County, says it has a policy against ejecting or accosting a passenger.

I would say he was suspended for breaking H&S rules. They are probably told not to intervene and just wait for the police to arrive. They are probably more concerned with the fact that they may have to pay this guy compensation for being injured at work. They will suspended him for a for a few weeks. Put it on his record and say they are not liable as the driver left his area and broke 'rules' with regard to dealing with unruley passengers

Its like in banks or shops, the vehicle and driver are insured for accidents, not for endangering themselves in altercations with scummy passengers.

It is stupid though.
