My 2 children can be little shits at times + really test my patience but never in a million years would I lay a finger on them. I detest violence + I love my children.

I've been a parent for 17 years + have never raised my hands to my children (+ trust me, they've deserved a good wallop at times). They get a stern telling off + have their priviledges removed (no pocket money/snacks/TV/gaming). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't + if it doesn't work then that does not give me the right to smack them about!

I was smacked, punched + shouted at as a child (despite the fact that I was well behaved until I turned 11/12) + it didn't stop until I was 17 (plus a few attempts in my 20s). Friends at school used to question why I had hand prints on me from where I'd been smacked. I used to get my room trashed as well. I'm now 36 years old + I still can't get it out of my head, that shit never leaves you.

Children need to learn who is boss, not be terrified of their own parents.

I am 61 years old, i was brought up as a Catholic in a strict Catholic regime, we were tought right from wrong with canes , fists , belts and other forms of physical punishment i dont really wish to go into, Basically i feel i would not have turned out to be the asshole i am today had i been brought up in a more loving and kinder institution, i rebelled through it all, i went through adolescence seeking revenge on any fucker i felt deserved it , and i dished it out when i thought fit, wrong, all wrong, violence breeds violence, , it took me into my 40s to realise where this had all stemmed fomand why, i took stock, took rehab and feel a lot better for it today, everyone needs boundaries but violence solves nothing in any given situation, I just wish with wisdom that i could have my time over again, with hindsight ..................................

Oh I'm so sorry that you went through all that, that's awful. No child should have pain inflicted on them. It also teaches children that if someone is pissing you off, you can hurt them in response.

I sort of agree with the 'violence breeds violence'. It can either go 2 ways with adults who were smacked/beaten as children; they either become violent themselves or they're dead against it + never raise their hands to anyone. I'm glad I ended up being one to not raise my hands, though I am a 'shouter'!

Good on you for turning your life around, I bet you're in a much happier place now.

Parenting is tough and if you dont have kids you cant understand the fear and worry that goes into making sure they take the right paths. Hard to tell this is right or not. But in my prespective that father feeling must be broken and have a huge shock, the mark and pain she got after slap can be gone in a week but the feeling that father have cant be erase. It's okay for anybody to have sex but let's see for real, its maybe taboo for some people to have sex on early age before marriage.

Respect that father, feel sorry for that girl.
