i've seen 2 or 3 MMA fighters took on 4 or 5 guys in CCTV recorded street brawls and came out way ahead.

If you think you can regularly fend off 3 people jumping you at once from behind, you're in for a rude awakening. No amount of martial arts is going to help you there. A knife or a gun are your best friends in that scenario.
