Latest research shows that the average cost of a woman’s footwear collection is £603 with 79 per cent admitting to having one or more pair of shoes they have never worn. Britain’s fashion -conscious women own an average 24 pairs of shoes, trainers and boots as their love affair with footwear continues to grow. 92 per cent - confess to owning at least two pairs of shoes that they have not worn for a year or more, while 79 per cent of those questioned admit they had one or more brand new pair of shoes in the closet that they had never worn. The main reason for new shoes never coming out of the box, according to 63 per cent of women is that the colour doesn’t match any of their outfits - yet ironically the top motivation given for buying fashion footwear is to “match a specific outfit”, cited by 57 per cent.  Nine out of ten women (91%) admit buying shows on impulse and a third (34%) said they had bought a pair to wear for a special occasion and never worn the shoes again. However, British men now own more pairs of shoes than the average woman, according to new research; a shift that has largely been driven by the growing popularity of trainers. The average UK male’s footwear collection costs £861, compared to £789 for a women’s. His shoe collection typically comprises 19 pairs, including eight pairs of trainers, five sets of smart shoes, two pairs of boots, two pairs of sandals or flip flops, a pair of football boots, and a pair of wellies. Bloody hell! I own 1 pair of shoes + that's it. I hate having things on my feet + only leave the house for 15 minutes each weekday so don't have a need to have more than 1 pair! Those figures are crazy!

I have 2 pairs of sneakers, and 1 pair of dress shoes for my suit. 1 of the pairs of sneakers is for when I paint stuff. Sounds like most of these people are preparing to become human centipedes! I'd watch that! |
