19-year-old PUC student has been arrested for allegedly harassing female students at a madrasah.

While madrasah can now refer to any type of school, the term madrasah was originally used to refer more specifically to a medieval Islamic centre of learning, mainly teaching Islamic law and theology, usually affiliated with a mosque, and funded by an early charitable trust known as waqf.

The accused Mohammad Hassan, son of the madrasah owner and brother of the female principal, had visited the madrasah at the principal’s request.

The incident, which occurred under the pretext of teaching, came to light after parents filed complaints.

Police acted swiftly, taking the accused into custody overnight and registering a case under BNS 115 and the JJ Act.

The madrasa, run by a family-managed trust, was visited by district CWC officials as part of the investigation.

CCTV footage showed Hassan and his four staff members in his chamber while the female students stood fearfully at the entrance. Later, he grabbed the hair of a girl and dragged her into his chamber. Later, he mercilessly thrashed her on the back.

The video showed Hassan grabbing another girl’s hands and forcefully twisting her fingers. As she writhed in pain, he placed an object in her hand and squeezed it.

The other girls watch in terror as he suddenly starts slapping the child on her cheek and repeatedly hitting her on the head.

When she collapses to the ground, he kicked her multiple times. He pressed another girl's toes with his feet, instructing her to join both legs before applying full pressure.

When she lost balance, he grabbed her and continued to stomp on her toes.
