Chicago police were notified of shots fired near the 3600 block of West Douglas Boulevard on May 16, 2021. Responding officers were given a description of the suspected individual by a local resident.

Officers located the individual near 1500 North Lawndale Avenue and verbally engaged the individual. The individual ignored them and continued down an alley toward other responding officers.

Officers verbally engaged the individual again. The individual then discharged a firearm, striking two officers. Officers returned fire, striking the individual.

Both officers and the individual were transported to local hospitals and survived their injuries.
