An Oregon woman who dialed 911 to get in touch with a sheriff's deputy she found attractive was arrested by that same deputy and later placed on probation, according to news accounts and the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Lorna Jeanne Dudash, 45, of Aloha, made the call in June 2006. Two sheriff's deputies had gone to her home a short time earlier to check a noise complaint from a neighbor. After the deputies knocked and left, Dudash phoned the emergency line to ask about one of them.

"He's the cutest cop I've seen in a long time," Dudash told the dispatcher, according to the recording. She asked for his name and said she wanted to meet him again, adding that she did not know how to reach him without calling 911.

The dispatcher sent the deputy back to the house. Instead of taking down her number, he confirmed there was no emergency and arrested her on a charge of improper use of the 911 system, sheriff's officials said.

Sgt. David Thompson of the Washington County Sheriff's Office said at the time that it was the first case he could recall in the county of someone calling 911 for such a personal reason. The charge carried a possible penalty of up to a year in jail and several thousand dollars in fines.

Dudash pleaded guilty in July 2006 before Washington County Circuit Judge Marco Hernandez. "People who are, oh, say, older than 7 know not to use 911 except when there is an emergency," Hernandez told her, according to court coverage.

The judge sentenced Dudash to two years of probation and 100 hours of community service and ordered her to pay $693 in fines and fees.
