Randy Budd's 911 Call About A Rock Hitting His Wife's Head

Chilling 911 call from Ohio husband, Randy Budd, who called police on July 10th to report his 53-year-old wife, Sharon Budd, had just been hit in the head by a rock.

The 4.6 pound rock was dropped from an overpass and flew through the windshield of their Nissan Rogue while driving on I80 in Pennsylvania during a family vacation. Budd, a passenger in the car driven by her daughter, suffered massive head injuries. Four teenagers have been charged in the case.

One of the four teens charged with throwing a rock from an Interstate 80 overpass that critically injured an Ohio woman is not waiting to be sentenced before going to jail.

Union County Judge Michael Sholley Monday approved the request of Brett M. Lahr, 19, to have his $50,000 unsecured bail revoked. The judge gave Lahr until Friday to report to prison but he had not done so Thursday afternoon.

In March Lahr pleaded no contest to a charge of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. He is scheduled to be sentenced in June.

Lahr is facing a state prison sentence of between 12 and 18 months and 10 years.

There was a flurry of activity in the case Wednesday as the other three defendants, Lahr's brother Dylan, Tyler Porter and Keefer McGee, filed briefs in support of their motions to be prosecuted as juveniles.

Union County District Attorney D. Peter Johnson said Thursday he will oppose those motions at a pretrial hearing scheduled for April 30.

The three, who were 17 at the time, are accused as adults of throwing a rock from the Gray Hill Road overpass that smashed the windshield of an eastbound car and hit Sharon Budd in the head just before midnight on July 10.

Budd, a Uniontown, Ohio, school teacher underwent life-saving surgery at Geisinger Medical Center near Danville immediately after the incident that involved removing part of her skull to allow her brain to swell.

Four young men cooked steaks they stole from a supermarket, then traveled to the Gray Hill Road overpass along Interstate 80, where they threw huge rocks that struck at least two vehicles.

Dylan Lahr, 17, of New Columbia, smashed the front window of a home along No. 10 Road with an aluminum baseball bat, belonging to McGee, and gathered rocks from a pig farm before the four went to the overpass in White Deer Township, where Dylan Lahr and Porter, 18, of Sunbury, threw rocks, connecting with the vehicle of the Budd family.

The four then cheered, McGee testified.
Dylan Lahr said he thought he really “(expletive) something up” as they piled into the car McGee was driving and went to the Lahr house in New Columbia to watch a movie, said McGee, 17, of New Columbia.
