Penelope "Penny'' Pratt had been involved in a battle with her sister for custody of her two children before vanishing. Described as a "prolific'' user of her mobile telephone and would contact her mother daily.

James John Potter, 26, was found guilty of murdering Penny Pratt, 27, following a dispute over an alleged debt of $160 owed to her.

Co-accused Aaron Gibson, 33, was on bail for other matters when he shot and killed 27-year-old Penelope "Penny" Pratt and received 19 years jail for his part in the murder. Mr Adrian Paul Krelekamp, 48, of Upwey, is charged with being an accessory after the fact. He is also charged with possessing amphetamines and cannabis.

Penelope Pratt, 27, was hiding in bushes on November 28, 2010 as she begged an emergency service operator to send police to a house in the eastern suburb of Boronia. But the operator never referred the call to police.

Audio of the call has revealed Ms Pratt became increasingly distressed as she argued with the operator, who refused to help if she did not explain properly why she needed police assistance.

The first call was disconnected and audio of the second call reveals she became increasingly frustrated with the emergency services operator. She can be heard breathing heavily as she pleaded an operator to send police because she was being threatened by "three violent offenders". "Trust me, you want to get to this address," she said. She later warned: "You're going to get me bashed."

She told the operator she was unable to speak louder because she was in the vicinity of being heard. "They were supposed to give me money I was owed," she said. But the operator refused to send police until she explained in detail why she needed them. "Do you want me to send police or not? Then you need to answer my questions," she said. The Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) has since confirmed her call was never referred to police.

I think so too! I keep wondering why the operator didn’t pass on some kind of information to the police. Penny was asking for help, and received none. ~ Sad outcome.

Sometimes the pig attitude trickles down to the dispatchers that are in constant contact with pigs.
This woman wasnt bowing down so she didnt deserve their help.

The call centre that took the call has absolutely no contact with police at all.

You have to understand that emergency call takers deal with a lot of time wasters, and they get frustrated.
