Officer-involved Shooting Near 300 W. 56th Place
On July 24, 2023, Chicago police received a complaint for a trespassing incident in the area of 300 W. 56th Place. Officers monitored the area through a Police Observation Device and saw a group of people in a cul-de-sac. Several officers arrived in the area in four unmarked police vehicles. When they arrived, officers got out to engage the group on foot, as well as a person driving a black sedan. Multiple officers tried to engage the driver as the sedan attempted to leave, struck a police vehicle, and fled. During the altercation, two officers fired at the moving sedan. No one is in custody.
