In July 2012 an intoxicated man tried to break into the Flat Rock (NC) home that he’d voluntarily to stay away from during a sheriff’s visit several hours earlier. The female caller described the situation and eventually stabbed the man when he broke in. (5 minutes of a 16-minute call)

Henderson County deputies said a man was stabbed in the stomach after he threatened to kill a woman in Flat Rock on Monday night.

The stabbing happened at 11:23 p.m. at 81 Vista Pond Lane.

Deputies said that earlier that night they had been called to the home about an argument. They said that James Scurlock, 45, agreed to stay at a neighbor's house for the night to defuse the situation.

Investigators said that about two hours later, Scurlock tried to get into the home again and threatened to kill a woman inside, and she called for help. They said Scurlock eventually was able to get inside the home through a window, picked up a chair and threatened to kill the woman again. They said that was when the woman stabbed Scurlock in the stomach.

Scurlock was taken to Mission Hospital for treatment.

Deputies said that the case will be turned over to the district attorney's office to determine if charges will be filed.
