A drunk man calls 911 because his ex wife won't give him his beer back. He then proceeds to ask for the operator's phone number.
AVON LAKE, Ohio - An Avon Lake man is in jail after drunkenly calling 911 to report an argument with his ex-wife over five Milwaukee's Best beers.
John Bansley was dropped off at his ex-wife’s home after being cited for open container in a public place. A police report said Bansley was sitting outside a food mart on Lear Read with an open 16-ounce can of Milwaukee’s Best Premium beer and a cardboard sign reading “bus ticket or beer.”
Bansley, found by officers just after 10 a.m. Monday, admitted he had been drinking until the morning hours and woke up at 9 a.m.
Officers said they recognized Bansley from a previous incident.
“He was talkative and cooperative and his main points of conversation was beer and going to Chicago,” a police report reads.
Bansley was taken to his ex-wife’s home under the condition that he did not drink or bring beer into the home. Officers gave Bansley’s ex-wife his five remaining Milwaukee’s Best beers, which they had confiscated.
At 11:15 a.m., Bansley called 911 to report that his ex-wife wouldn’t give him back his beer.
“It’s a fight over beer,” Bansley tells the Avon Lake police dispatcher. Bansley argues with his ex-wife in the background, then ends the call by telling the dispatcher she sounds pretty and asking for her number.
