A 7-year-old boy with autism called 911 and helped save his mother after she fell and passed out in their Deltona, Florida, home in May 2014.

Lisa Kirby was hanging curtains when she fell, blacked out and woke up on the floor in pain, unable to move, according to WKMG-TV. Her son, Joshua, was the only other person home at the time.

Joshua found his mother's phone and dialed 911. "I need some help," he told the dispatcher, according to audio of the call. "Mommy got hurt. Mommy fell down."

A Volusia County dispatcher stayed on the line with Joshua for roughly 11 minutes, walking him through what to do next. The dispatcher told him to get a towel for his mother's head and to unlock the front door so paramedics could get inside once they arrived.

Joshua followed both instructions. Paramedics reached the home and took Kirby to a hospital, where she was treated and held overnight before being released, according to CBS News. She recovered from her injuries.

Kirby said she had no idea her son knew how to call for help and credited a recent visit by firefighters to his school with teaching him what to do. "He is a little hero," she said.
