SUGAR LAND, Texas. A fired contract worker broke into her former boss's bedroom before dawn and stabbed him in the head with a steak knife, according to police and the victim's family.

Ron Williamson said he was asleep at his home near Elmwood and Greenway around 3 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, when he woke suddenly and saw a shadowy figure standing over the bed. The intruder brought a knife down, striking his arm before the blade drove into his head.

Williamson said he did not realize until later that the weapon was a steak knife. He was left with the blade lodged in his skull for about six hours before he was treated at a hospital. He survived and recovered.

His wife, Cindy Williamson, a former parent-teacher association president, said she left the room to check on the couple's children, then grabbed a phone and called 911 while their son ran to the garage for a baseball bat.

"I'm fixing to have to hit her with this, so I need both hands, so I'm hanging up," Cindy Williamson told the 911 dispatcher, according to a recording of the call.

She struck the intruder with the bat until the attacker was subdued. At one point, Cindy Williamson said, the woman begged, "Please kill me, please kill me." Cindy Williamson said she told her, "No, you're going to go to prison."

Police identified the attacker as Lydia Munoz, 30, a contract worker who had been let go from Williamson's business in Stafford about a month earlier. The couple held her down until officers arrived. Munoz was booked into the Fort Bend County jail on a charge of aggravated assault. Court records showing the case's final disposition could not be located.
