This dispatch, 911-call, and gunshot-detection audio is from a fatal officer-involved shooting on Aug. 11, 2023, near 1100 West 111th Street.

Officers Huberts and Fields were on routine patrol near 111th and Racine when they saw a confrontation between two people. They saw GordonHay with a gun in his waistband equipped with an extended magazine and attempted to engage him.

GordonHay ran into a residence. The officers entered, and a struggle began as they tried to take control of his weapon. During the struggle, GordonHay turned the gun on himself and shot himself in the head after officers tried to disarm him.

Immediately after GordonHay's weapon discharged, Officer Huberts fired his weapon, striking GordonHay in the upper back. The medical examiner deemed both shots fatal.

Officer Huberts later faced allegations over the firearm discharge, failing to use de-escalation tactics, entering the residence, and failing to timely activate his body-worn camera. Officer Fields later faced allegations over a foot pursuit, failure to de-escalate, pointing his firearm at GordonHay and Officer Huberts, unjustified entry into the house, and failure to secure his firearm.
