A 911 caller reported that Daniel Nevius, 55, of Sicklerville, was pointing a firearm at civilians at a residence on Fox Run Road in Deptford, Gloucester County.

Deptford police officers responded and approached the residence on foot. Officers reported that Nevius pointed his rifle toward them.

Deptford Police Officer Luke Ivey fired his service weapon once at 1:21 p.m., striking Nevius. Emergency medical personnel responded to render aid, and Nevius was pronounced deceased at the scene at 1:55 p.m. His rifle was recovered.

A state grand jury later voted no bill, meaning no criminal charges were filed against Officer Ivey.
