The Call to 911 About Thomas Fey Stabbing His Parents

In Nov. 2011 Thomas Fey stabbed is parents outside Orlando (Fla.) and then fled. The victims staggered outside, where a neighbor spotted them and dialed 911. The neighbor (armed with a pistol) described the scene, the getaway car, and searched for the second victim while on the phone with a Volusia County sheriff’s dispatcher.

A man suspected of having stabbed his parents in Deltona was captured tonight in Hernando County, officials said.

Deputies chased Thomas Fey, 28, through Orange, Lake, Sumter and Hernando counties, authorities said. He was arrested on two counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of grand theft of a motor vehicle.

Fey was driving his parents' 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee when an Oakland police officer spotted him in Orange County, authorities said. Fey sped into Lake County, where deputies there joined the pursuit, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

Fey drove through Sumter County and just across the Hernando County line, where Hernando deputies stopped him about 9:05 p.m. with spiked strips that flattened his tires, they said. He was caught on State Road 50 between Richloam Clay Sink and McKinny Sink roads, east of U.S. Highway 301 in the Webster area.

Lake County deputies took Fey into custody. He will be booked into the Hernando County Detention Center and eventually transferred to Volusia for prosecution on the attempted-murder charges.

Fey had been spotted in Bithlo and in or near Kissimmee between Monday morning and Tuesday evening.

His parents were stabbed several times Sunday at their home, where the younger Fey also lived, investigators said. Detectives say the attack was unprovoked.

Theresa Fey, 54, and Thomas Fey, 60, are recovering after being discharged from Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach. Thomas Fey underwent emergency surgery Sunday, the Sheriff's Office said.
