Police in Albany, Georgia, arrested a man in late July 2013 after he called 911 to report that a McDonald's restaurant had left one hamburger out of his order, according to television station WALB.

Lorenzo Riggins told WALB he ordered seven McDoubles, a McChicken sandwich and a fry at a McDonald's on Oglethorpe Boulevard in east Albany. He said he did not check the bag before driving off and found only six McDoubles once he was back at his truck.

Riggins said he carried the bag back inside to ask an employee to correct the order and felt the employee responded with attitude. He told the employee he intended to call the police, then dialed 911 to report the missing sandwich.

Officers who responded to the restaurant arrested Riggins on a charge of misusing the emergency 911 system, WALB reported. He was booked into the Dougherty County jail and spent the night there before posting bond the next day.

Riggins told the station he did not realize a call about a fast food order counted as misuse of the emergency line. "I called the police and thinking that everything all cool by calling the police, I didn't know I was misusing 911," he said.

He added that he wanted to be treated fairly, saying "I want justice, I want to be treated like a person with respect." Riggins said the experience taught him to check his order before leaving a restaurant. "Check your food before you leave, always be careful when you go buy food anywhere," he told WALB.

No further update on the disposition of the 911 misuse charge was reported.
