A 21-year-old man was convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy who was struck in the head during an argument outside a Jacksonville, Florida, nightclub, according to News4Jax.

Jeremiah Corbett was found guilty on March 1, 2013, in the killing of Horace James Jr. and the wounding of two teenage girls, the station reported. Prosecutors said Corbett shot James in the head on Sept. 25, 2010.

The shooting happened in a parking lot near Club Menage on University Boulevard in the Arlington area, according to trial testimony cited by News4Jax. Friends who were with Corbett that night testified that he felt disrespected after getting involved in an argument between two teenage girls and an ex-boyfriend.

Prosecutors told jurors the case centered on "a bruised ego and a hot temper," the report said. The two wounded girls survived.

The defense argued in closing that "there is no evidence of DNA or fingerprints that ties Jeremiah Corbett to this case," according to News4Jax. The jury convicted him of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, shooting a deadly missile and possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent.

A judge released the logging tape of a 911 call from the night of the shooting in May 2012, ahead of the trial. Corbett faced a mandatory sentence of life in prison, with sentencing set for April 8, 2013.
