Re: Marlon Brando - Iconic Actor

I heard he was kind of a poop head. Don't like guys who swing both ways. Obviously a talented artist. Godfather FTW.

Re: Marlon Brando - Iconic Actor

He was handsome but I've not head good things about him; he apparently decided it'd be ok to assault a woman while filming a movie to make her reaction "authentic" when they could have had her, a competent actress, act.

Re: Marlon Brando - Iconic Actor

He's often credited as being the first actor to break away from theatrical acting to a more naturalistic form of acting. Though he cited Greta Garbo as being the first naturalistic actor. His work in On the Waterfront is often applauded, particularly for his famous contender line which wasn't scripted. Though I've always thought Rod Steiger, who was just as good, never got his due.

In A Streetcar Named Desire he completely flummoxed Vivien Leigh, who was a classically trained theatre actress, by chewing gum, scratching, adlibbing lines. IIRC, the cat screeching noise he made was adlibbed too.
