Pretty damn sure he lived. It wasn't high voltage/current enough to zolt him into stiffness beyond his hand. He was conscious and aware and fighting to remove his grip the whole time. That shit doesn't happen under high power. He definitely got the jolt of his life, for sure. Hand is probably toast, but I doubt he died...well, unless it was from going to a doctor in India.
