Wow, now that was bad timing. Traffic light was on blink so she had no opportunity to cross on a red (at this intersection). That black van in the left lane shielded her view of oncoming traffic until she had run into the oncoming lane. She was a horrible suburban ped - entirely out of her element and in full panic. Probably out of sorts by the blinky light. If she just played it cool and moseyed, made eye contact and held her hand out at the crawling 2 lanes of traffic, it would have been a cake crossing and nobody would have minded a bit. I used to city bike (bicycle) and while I avoided congestion like the plague, it is easy to get though when lanes are crawling. Just have to watch for the a-hole speeders. (such as other City bikers  )
