Waiter Hops into a Jeep and Runs Over Woman and Kid and Hitting Bikes and Cars
A 25-year-old Indian woman and her toddler had a miraculous escape after they were hit by a jeep this afternoon. Fortunately, the mother and child escaped with minor injuries. The incident was captured on CCTV. The woman has been identified as Chandralatha while her two-year-old son is identified as Ritwij. According to police, the jeep that knocked down the woman belongs to a catering firm, which also runs a restaurant named Tiffin Room in Puttur. The driver of the jeep entered the restaurant after parking the jeep, and leaving the key in the ignition. A youngster, employed as a waiter in the hotel, hopped into the jeep and fancied his chances with the vehicle. Police said he did not know how to drive. As he turned the key and stepped his foot on the accelerator, the jeep moved ahead with great speed, knocking down the woman and her child, who were standing a few metres away. In addition, the jeep also rammed into two cars and three motorcycles. Locals gave the waiter a piece of their mind and called the police. The woman, who sustained minor injuries on her toe and head, was administered first-aid by them. Police said the woman did not wish to file a complaint against the waiter.  |

Jeeps have a lot of ground clearance. I used to change the clutch plate in a jeep owned by a girl I knew, and we never had to jack it up. Just slide under it.
