The New Year really started off with a bang on a Thai island after a firework display went totally wrong.

Hundreds of fireworks unexpectedly exploded on a beach on Hua Hin in front of partygoers all at once.

During the short footage, panicked holidaymakers can be seen screaming and running away from the out-of-control display in the luxury beach resort.

One person fleeing the scene is heard saying: “Out of here, go!”

The 30-second spectacle was meant to last several minutes to celebrate the beginning of 2012.

Fortunately, no one was injured following the ruined firework display

umm that is what happened with me on fourth of july... put in the bulb upside down and it exploded burnt a tiny part of my hair... no more lighting those off for me lol.

they shot it straight up so it landed on top of the other displayed fireworks it seems to me.
now that's dumb.

That.....was....fucking.....beautiful! The way it started off small then BANG BANG BANG, then small again, then BANG......BANG.....BANG. Almost as good as ours at Sydney Harbour this year, only alot cheaper and quicker. Jeez those Thai's are getting good at fireworks shows, my hat is off to the crafty little buggers.
