I Always Always Always say a "prayer" when I'm in an area like a parking lot, walking past cars, waiting for cars to move, etc... "Please do not run me over with your car, I'm too young and too cute to die by car(vehicle)".

It Has worked! I have never once gotten runneth over and/or smooshed.
