A Lakewood, Wash., man smashed his van into a Tualatin gas station Monday night, telling store clerks he had a bomb in his vehicle.
The Tualatin Police Department responded to the 911 call from the Jackson's Shell gas station on Nyberg Street at 10:27 p.m., Lieutenant Greg Pickering said.
The police later determined there was no bomb in the man's white Chevy Astro or the gas station, Pickering said. The Portland Bomb Squad assisted the investigation.
The van crushed through the store's front windows and came to rest near its register. The gas station's located at 7090 S.W. Nyberg St. in Tualatin.
No injuries were reported, but the male suspect was transferred to a local hospital for evaluation. Alcohol and drugs were suspected to be a factor in the crash, Pickering said.
Police identified the driver as 33-year-old Serrano Zacharias and said he could face charges of DUII, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.
Police are continuing to investigate.
