A woman was seriously injured after the explosion of a power box in Peru. After the incident, the victim, who answers to the name of Marilú Taype Medina, was helped by two soldiers who were in the area and later transferred to the Sergio Bernales Hospital in Collique, where she is receiving medical attention.

RPP was able to speak with a relative of the victim, identified as Ulises Taype, to learn more details about her health status. The woman's relative revealed that she is bedridden and in pain after the accident.

"She is seriously ill, bedridden and in pain. The competent authorities are not responsible for anything, we are assuming the expenses.

My relative continues to have the same pain, even greater, since her body is reacting and she is feeling the pain. They are giving her painkillers, but they cannot be applied (they are not effective) due to the magnitude of the pain she is in," said Taype.

She also revealed that the medical expenses are being assumed by the relatives. Taype asked the authorities for support, as he indicated that, despite the fact that the woman is insured by the SIS, there are medications that are not covered.

“We are assuming the expenses. Although the SIS is assuming part of it, there are medications that are not covered.

So far there is no competent authority or company that has come to us, they tell us things in words, but they do not commit to assuming (the expenses). They told us that they were going to take care of it, but so far nothing,” said the victim's relative.

Finally, he urged the authorities to take responsibility for Marilú Taype Medina's medical expenses.

“We are asking the competent authority, which is the Municipality of Lima, to come and take full responsibility, including her rehabilitation because we do not know what consequences it may leave my relative with.

She may have lost her right arm, she is a mother. In Collique they want to discharge her because they say that the blow is light,” he concluded.
