amazing one of the drivers survived!...I'm guessing it wasn't the one who got t-boned and rather the one who was speeding that survived

I don't think so. The truck that got hit took the impact pretty much right in the driver's door. Not much survival space between the driver and the truck that hit them, whereas the other truck had the length of the bonnet as crash protection, regardless of any safety systems built into the truck...
