Re: Truck Transporting Fuselage Hits a Pedestrian Bridge

Let the air out of the trailer tires, roll it under the bridge (sloooooowly) air them back up, and roll on. Send a check for a structural assessment of the bridge.

Re: Truck Transporting Fuselage Hits a Pedestrian Bridge

He obviously wasn't going fast enough

Another 30-40 mph, he would have made it right through!

Re: Truck Transporting Fuselage Hits a Pedestrian Bridge

It WAS an Airbus A-320, serial number 96, delivered September 28, 1990 to Indian Air Lines. Removed from service on August 24th, 2007. Listed as "Stored", but probably now has been scrapped, as the damage is probably not worth repairing.
Oh, well.

Re: Truck Transporting Fuselage Hits a Pedestrian Bridge

What were they thinking? Why were they even trying to move a mostly assembled commercial air liner? It was so tall that they were destined to hit the first bridge they came across. That would be crazy as hell to be driving down the road, look over, and see an A-320 without wings cruising past you in the other lane. Sadly I do not think I'll ever have a chance to see this in real life, in the US.

I don't know.
They moved that "Miracle on the Hudson" airplane by road from New York to someplace in North Carolina, where it went on display, (apparently for people who want to see what a moistened airplane looks like.)
They didn't hit a single bridge. Or knock over any postal boxes. Or cause a food delivery guy on a scooter to tip over, even.

Re: Truck Transporting Fuselage Hits a Pedestrian Bridge

Wow, I guess I did have a chance to see it in the US and missed it.

It DOES look like the crew moving this plane put a bit more planning into it, instead of using the first flat bed available like the people in the OP's video. Had they used a lowered trailer like in this YT video, they'd have made it under the bridge.
