Re: Truck Overturns and Crashes into a Car, a Motorcycle and an Auto Shop
In a bizarre accident involving multiple vehicles, a truck overturned, slid through the road and rammed into a car and a scooter at Munduparamba in Malappuram at 9.50am on Saturday. Passers-by were able to rescue all those who were involved in the accident. At least two persons were seriously injured. Police said that Muhammed Shafi, a Randathani native, who was riding the scooter, sustained fractures on his legs. Shafi and the truck driver, Shankar of Nagpur, were rushed to a hospital at Manjeri. The driver of the car, which was involved in the accident, and another person who was standing nearby, escaped with minor injuries. Police recovered CCTV visuals of the accident. The truck lost control and hurtled into the parking area on the roadside where a car was parked. The vehicle first rammed into a hatchback car, which in turn, smashed into the scooter and the parked car. The truck was carrying huge iron rolls which added to the impact of the collision. Officials said that the truck which came from Palakkad direction went out of control, overturned and rammed the other vehicles. The scooter rider was heading towards Munduparamba Junction from Kozhikode direction. He tried to swerve away seeing the truck coming towards him, but still got crushed between a pillar and the hatchback car. Rescuers initially couldn't see the scooter rider as he was trapped between the pillar on the roadside, the scooter and the hatchback car. However, he was soon rescued by the fire force officials. "We had to cut open the vehicle parts to get him out. He was conscious and was rushed to the hospital," said a fire force official. Meanwhile, the driver of the hatchback car escaped without major injuries as he was wearing a seat belt. |
