Train Hits Ambulance with 4 People in it
Brazil, In the north of Paraná an ambulance from the city of São Pedro do Ivaí was struck by a train yesterday. The collision occurred at a railroad crossing on the BR-369 highway. The ambulance was dragged for approx. 200 meters along the tracks. The driver reportedly failed to notice the approaching locomotive while crossing. Four people were inside the ambulance at the time of the crash. All were injured and received immediate medical attention. A 77-year-old patient sustained serious injuries, including an open fracture. He was airlifted by a SAMU helicopter to a regional hospital afterwards. Two companions, a man and a woman in their 50's suffered moderate injuries. The driver was also taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. |

The driver appears to have been retarded. Why did he STOP, when he was nearly across the crossing? Should have just floored it and gone. Unless he was trying to figure out if this was Tuesday or not. |
