They really hop up those engines. They have a club here in Tucson that does those tractor pulls. The trailer attached to the back of the tractor has weights on it that shift at a set speed. As they move, the sled gets harder and harder to drag, until the tractor just grinds to a halt. Distance traveled versus seconds used gives the score. (Unless your engine blows up and cremates you. You can't collect a prize if you aren't alive at the end of the contest. I think that's one of the official rules.) |
