Toyota Driver Dies 6 Days Later After Fatally Hitting Man and His Son
Poland. A 52-year-old resident of Ząbkowice County, driving a Toyota, for unknown reasons mounted the sidewalk, striking two people on June 10. The vehicle then rebounded off a wall and collided with a Toyota traveling in the opposite direction, driven by a 41-year-old man. Two people died: A 48-year-old man and his young son, who were residents of the Nysa district. The 52-year-old driver was sober, according to the police. The 52-year-old was taken to hospital the day after the accident and was questioned there. On Friday, June 12, he was charged with causing a road traffic accident resulting in the death or serious bodily injury of another person. He pleaded not guilty, claiming he remembered nothing. A pretrial detention hearing was also held at the hospital. The court found no grounds for this measure. Instead, the man was banned from leaving the country, placed on bail, and placed under police supervision. The man's condition later improved and he was able to leave the facility. On June 16, he was hospitalized again and died there. The 52-year-old faced up to eight years in prison. "Due to the suspect's death, the case will be dismissed," prosecutor Pindera said. |
