Toddler Falls Through Roof

Ms. Hue and her husband run a seafood store in Quang Nham Commune, Quang Xuong District, Thanh Hoa Province. The location in the video is a seafood warehouse of her family, which has been closed these days.

At around 3:30 p.m. on February 4, she went to the warehouse to get some goods and saw a big hole in the roof, with debris scattered underneath. At first, she thought a burglar had broken in, so she and her husband checked the camera.

“When we watched the camera and saw this scene, my husband and I trembled. After asking around, I learned the whole story,” said Ms. Hue.

The boy in the video is about 3-4 years old, a relative of Ms. Hue's next-door neighbor. On February 4, he followed his grandparents to the neighbor's house to play and then climbed up to the second floor with a few other children without the adults knowing.

The second floor of the neighbor's house is adjacent to the corrugated iron roof of the seafood warehouse. The active boy climbed from the second floor railing to the roof, accidentally stepped on the light panel and fell down to the floor.

“My house’s corrugated iron roof has been in place for several years and is still quite sturdy, but the skylight is more vulnerable. The boy was climbing and somehow stepped on the skylight and it fell off.

As far as I know, while the boy was playing on the second floor, the group of adults were eating and drinking on the first floor," Ms. Hue shared.

“My husband and I went to visit the boy that day and learned that his parents were working far away and that he was living with his grandparents. After the incident, his grandparents took him for a thorough X-ray and his health was not a concern. Today, he can eat a bowl of rice,” said Ms. Hue.
